The work at Rocketship HQ
Q1. What are 3 words that you would use to describe yourself?
Observer, calm, and a social activist.
Q2. What drew you to RocketShip HQ originally? How has the company changed since?
Though I have other reasons that drew me to Rocketship HQ, like advanced marketing technologies and career growth opportunities, the first thing is that I am lucky to be part of this intelligent and sophisticated team. Since then, I have observed that we have made many developments in operations and the company is on the right track to growing further.
Q3. What do you like about your job?
My teammates are very supportive and helpful. They help shape you better in their capacity. Apart from that, most of our clients are across the world, so we have opportunities to interact and communicate with knowledgeable people from all around the world.
Q4. What has been your proudest moment at RocketShip HQ?
The proudest moment was when I was given responsibilities to handling client updates and solving their direct queries through communication channels at an early stage.
Q5. What is a typical workday like for you?
I mostly work late into the night, but I still try to come in as early as possible the next day to put my morning energy to work. I start with ad campaign analysis and reporting for our clients. In the afternoon, I work on ad optimization and creative uploading. I deal with any other marketing-related work like drafting weekly updates and working with performance data like funnel analysis, KPI trends, etc. in between my regular schedule. I try to complete all my open tasks efficiently in the given time period.
Career journey
Q6. What was a key inflection/turning point in your career?
I worked as an e-commerce entrepreneur for more than 2 years, and that role dragged me into the digital marketing world from conventional web development. The role comes with many internal and external challenges like teams, funding, feasibility, targets, etc. and then you realize how easy your last job was where you were only supposed to do some predefined tasks. I gained a lot of skills in that entrepreneurial role. Rocketship HQ was the next big thing for me.
Q7. Tell us about a mentor or a person who has inspired or influenced you significantly.
My grandfather was my mentor throughout my life. He was a government teacher and left his job to become a freedom fighter in 1942. Though he didn’t teach me about technology and marketing, he left a lot of teachings for me. In particular, I learned the value of personal integrity from him, and this has always helped me on both professional and personal fronts.
Q8. What are some of the key lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
- Follow up unless you are denied or get the answers.
- Keep going with the trend and be prepared to adapt.
- “Work to learn more” always pays off.
Behind the scenes: Who is DEEPAK?
Q9. Tell us about your favorite travel & food spots or experiences (feel free to include more than 1).
I prefer the Himalayan hinterlands and peaceful valleys. I like exploring different landforms, from fold mountains to rock structures resulting from many geological time frames. This fascinates me more than anything.
Q10. What do you do for fun?
I write short poems and songs in my native language. Some of them are completed and with some, I’m still striving to compose the finishing lines.
Q11. What are the top 3 items on your bucket list?
- To own a mountain homestay above 1800+ AMSL
- Making ‘Chenap Valley’ famous and bringing it into the political map (another Valley of Flowers that is not known to many)
- Launch my own tech blog soon.
Q12. What is a fun fact about yourself that not many people might know?
I am a social worker. Whenever I find time, I involve myself in tourism and ecology development in villages close to my hometown.
My aim is to help vulnerable sections become economically stable, because the rural economy and the demand generated by it has a meaningful role in the overall nation’s economy.
