Sergio knows where to find the right art and how to use it to our benefit. He’s one of our lead designers and he believes in quality over everything else. Sergio makes us love the work we do (because creatives look so good once he’s done!) and our clients can’t seem to get enough of his creativity. Here’s a bit about what Sergio’s been upto since he joined us at Rocketship HQ.
(PS: We’re starting a petition to get him started on his culinary tourism plans)
The work at Rocketship HQ
Q1. What are 3 words that you would use to describe yourself?
Creative, organized and friendly.
Q2. What drew you to RocketShip HQ originally? How has the company changed since?
The opportunity to grow in my career, learn and build my experience by working with many clients worldwide.
Q3. What do you like about your job?
It is remote-friendly.
It is oriented to objectives.
The team at Rocketship HQ is fantastic, they are kind and very professional. They have many processes to organize the day, and I feel inspired to be creative.
Q4. What has been your proudest moment at RocketShip HQ?
My proudest moment was when the team asked me to make a showreel for 2022 to highlight the best ads by Rocketship HQ.
I also feel proud when clients tell us how satisfied they are with our work. We have always worked with good energy and respect and for this reason, I am thrilled to be a part of this team. I am proud of myself, but I am more proud of the people whom I work with daily.
Q5. What is a typical workday like for you?
The team assigns me projects with a script explaining what the main idea is.
After that, I think through different proposals to make a high visual-impact video. Then I hunt for resources and build the design from scratch, animate it and deliver the video to the client.
Career journey
Q6. What was a key inflection/turning point in your career?
It was in 2018, when I started working as a motion graphic designer in user acquisition for the gaming industry. I learned about the new world of KPIs and how to make videos oriented towards performance.
Q7. Tell us about a mentor or a person who has inspired or influenced you significantly.
My leader at Etermax, Nahir Garcia, was my influencer there. She motivated me to learn about performance, main KPI metrics, emotional intelligence, soft skills, and how to become a good leader.
Q8. What are some of the key lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
To have a growing career, you need to be constantly in motion, learn about new trends, build new skills and read the latest articles to understand what happens and what changes in the industry. Be motivated, keep testing and failing until you get a good result – that is the best way to learn.
Behind the scenes: Who is SERGIO?
Q9. Tell us about your favorite travel & food spots or experiences (feel free to include more than 1).
I love working and traveling at the same time, because it allows me to know about different cultures and taste different kinds of food. I think we can learn a lot from people in other places unrelated to our profession. These situations open my mind and teach me about a lot of things.
Q10. What do you do for fun?
I am a fan of playing video games such as Fifa, Last of Us, and social games, watching movies and series like The Office, Friends, GOT. I enjoy traveling to different places (I visited Mexico, the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, England, and a few others) and learning more about the real world. I have a new goal for the next few years; I would like to start doing culinary tourism.
Q11. What are the top 3 items on your bucket list?
Travel to Iceland, start my own business and open my own pet shelter!
Q12. What is a fun fact about yourself that not many people might know?
I am really bad at diving into a pool, I dance in my house, and I cannot run more than one block!
